Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas had to face a humiliating experience at Begumpet airport on Tuesday evening, where he had come to see off Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
During the brief send-off ceremony, the dignitaries including ministers and Congress leaders were allowed to go to the podium to shake hands with the Prime Minister and greet him with a bouquet. As all the dignitaries were following queue, former chief minister and Rajya Sabha member Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy jumped the line and went to the podium straightaway. The special protection group (SPG) allowed him in the wrong route, as he was not in a position to stand in the long queue. Governor ESL Narasimhan helped Nedurumalli to reach the podium and greet the Prime Minister.
Seeing this, the PCC president, too, broke away from the queue and followed Nedurumalli in the wrong route. The SPG sleuths stopped him near the podium and sent him back, saying he should come in the queue. Srinivas, too, tried to tell them that he was also not able to walk properly, but the SPG virtually forced him to go back.
A humiliated DS returned to the queue with an embarrassing smile, but by the time he came back to the queue, many others were ahead of him. He had to go back to the end of the queue and wait for his turn!
